What makes a golf cart street legal?

All street legal golf cars that we carry are either 4 passenger or 6 passenger electric carts. Gas golf carts are not street legal because they cannot maintain the speed required for road use (24mph). 2 passenger and 8 passenger carts are also not street legal, though we do offer them for rentals.

In order for a golf cart to be street legal, it must be registered with the DMV as a low-speed vehicle (LSV), meaning it is limited to a maximum speed of 24mph. Once registered, they can be driven and parked just like a regular car. Street legal golf carts can be driven on any roads with a speed limit of 35mph or less, and must have a tag (license plate) attached to the back. The back of the vehicle must also have an orange triangle sign attached that indicates that it is an LSV.

Our main store is located in Riviera Beach, and we have other showrooms in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Vero Beach, but we deliver all over the state, from Key Biscayne, to Okeechobee, to Melbourne beach, and many, many more. Recently, we’ve opened up our golf cart rental delivery to the west coast of south Florida as well, which includes Fort Myers, Naples, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs, and more! Fort Myers Golf Cart Rental carries a variety of golf carts available for rental, including both street legal and non street legal 2, 4, and 6 passenger carts. Our street legal golf cart rentals are less than a year old, and come with all necessary safety features that make them suitable for public roads with a speed limit of 35mph or less, with headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, horn, and a maximum speed of 24mph. For events or construction sites, we also have non street legal utility carts for rental, available with either a flatbed or a box bed. Fort Myers golf cart rentals are also electric, and give off no harmful emissions and hardly make a sound when driving. Instead of having to fill up with gas, our electric carts can plug right into a standard 110V outlet – all of our rental carts come with a charging cable as well!

Here are some examples of our most popular rental golf carts, along with rental rates for one day, three days, five days, seven days, and one month. Most of our rentals are generally based on short term applications, but we do have a monthly rate with the option of extension always available if your golf cart is needed for a long term rental. Popular in south Florida right now are not only golf carts, but electric bikes, often seen around the Fort Lauderdale beach area and in prevalent areas such as Las Olas Boulevard and Wilton Drive. While our street legal golf cart rentals can be driven on any roads with a speed limit of 35mph or less, electric bikes can be ridden practically anywhere with a bike lane, and are much more easily portable than a golf cart. Not only do we offer EBike rentals and EBike sales, but we have a variety of brands and models of electric bikes for all kinds of applications. For example, our folding EBikes are great for vacations or camping trips, since once they’re folded up, they take up very little room and can be easily stored under a desk or in the trunk of a car. City EBikes, or our standard model, are perfect for everyday use, including biking to work, school, or stores. Our fat tire EBikes are built for rough and uneven terrain, along with our mountain bikes, making them great for riding on a hiking trip, as they can easily maneuver and travel over gravel and rocky pathways.

Golf Cart Storage Cover | Advanced EV Storage Cover | Golf Cart Storage

Along with our various types of golf cart enclosures available for sale at Prime Cart Parts, we also carry a variety of golf cart storage cover products for golf cart brands such as Advanced EV/Icon®, Evolution, and EZGO. Golf cart storage covers differ from our enclosures in that they completely cover the golf cart in black fabric, in order to protect it from dust or scratches when it is brought into a storage location like a shed. The high-quality material also protects from rain, UV-rays, sand, snow, fog, and other severe weather conditions. All covers are black, and have a zipper for easy covering and removal. Our enclosures have a similar function, but have see-through plastic windows for driving use. Both are made of high-quality materials to protect from excess wear and weather.

Many seasonal residents of south Florida, who travel up north during summer, are not sure how to store their golf cart in order to ensure the best protection for the cart body and batteries. Like many of our other cart brands, such as our Advanced EV, Bintelli, Elite EV, and Aluma carts, our Silverlight carts are street ready, meaning they have all necessary features needed to become registered as a street legal low speed vehicle (LSV). An LSV has a tag and a title and can drive on public roads with a speed limit of 35mph or less, and include a number of safety features such as headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, horn, side view mirrors, windshield, and a maximum speed of approximately 24mph.

The Termite mini golf cart is a 36V golf cart and is perfect for campers and RV enthusiasts that want to take a golf cart along for the ride, but don’t have the room for a regular sized one. You can take your mini cart with you in practically any pickup truck, motor home, van, or with optional carriers and towing accessories.

Our 4 passenger Termite mini cart is currently available as a 4 passenger cart, with 2 seats facing forwards and 2 seats facing backwards. The back seats can also flip over to create a flat surface for transporting small materials. Depending on the terrain, the Termite mini cart can reach a maximum speed of approximately 10-13mph.

Our mobile golf cart services currently available include:

Battery Service

  • Test voltage one by one and all together; test load capacity on single batteries
  • Check tightness of cables and connections, replace bad cables
  • Clean any corrosion
  • Check water level – if low, technician adds distilled water to bring up to proper level
  • Test cart to make sure it drives, plug in cart to check that charger comes on

Supercharge

  • Check water levels before charging
  • Supercharger connects to all batteries of a 48V cart
  • Supercharging takes between 1-4 hours

When a cart is done supercharging, it had enough power for its regular charger to take effect and begin recharging it.

Tire Changes

Our tire services are usually called to change a flat tire. We will:

  • Loosen lugnuts, jack up cart, remove and replace wheel
  • Standard golf cart tires are 18-8.5-8; we can change up to a 14 inch tire
  • Customers can also provide a tire that we can put on

We’ve featured the Evolution D5 4 passenger golf cart on our Prime Cart Parts site, and now, we’ve recently begun selling the 6 passenger version as well – the Evolution D5 6 passenger golf cart, with 6 luxury, two-tone forward facing seats, different from most 6 passenger golf carts that have 4 seats facing forwards and 2 seats facing backwards. The Evolution D5 6 passenger golf cart is a street legal low speed vehicle (LSV) that comes with a 17-digit VIN number, along with multiple features making it safe for street use, and several accessories pre-installed. Our Evolution D5 6 passenger golf carts have 6 forward facing seats with luxury, marine vinyl cushioned seats, and a powerful 8.4 HP AC electric engine powered by a 110AH lithium battery with a built-in charger. The Evolution D5 also has cupholders on the dashboard, along with a rear storage compartment with a locking lid and locking dash attachments, for security when storing your items. This cart reaches an approximate speed of 24mph, and can be driven on roads 35mph or less. Safety features include seatbelts, headlights, taillights, brake lights, horn, and turn signals.
